Terrifying enough, I don't actually think all the stuff that I'd contemplated is on this list. I haven't gone through all my 'Active stories' folders to be sure. Yeah. I'll, um, just go write now.

Edana Phaedra when she was a slave in Rome/knew LaCroix Shahar (when she was training Mandisa) Aithnea (when she met Robert de Valicourt who's a friend and former rival in shipping; Robert also tried to steal her emerald mine?!) Sidra (the name Gina and Fitz both use for her) Mahina (when she was training Okilani) Sulwen Freyjasdottir (15th cent; met both Nick Knight & Matthew McCormick under that name) Cynthia Torriani (the name she met Owain under) Clarissa ? (late 1800s; Phillipe Alban got this persona committed to an insane asylum. I think Xan and Alex had to come get her out. Also a name Portia uses for her; did she repeat it?) Danica Ostrau (19230s Europe; working a gem courier) Phoebe Syn (when Farrell knew her in WWII) Sunny ? (1960s, in TN) Sun-Child (one of LaCroix's names for her) Aidan Logan Candace Ryan (? Currently set up as her next ID; may yet change) Time unknown: Dacey, Yelena Also? Go through all the Linewar Stories after this -- and the students' page! -- and do up a damn timeline of where we know she was when! (And for the rest of them, for that matter!) 17th Cent -- Lost touch with Methos in 1638, and went back to North America. Worked her way down through the Appalachians and across the Mississippi, and followed the mountains south into what's now Central America. Spent a few decades traveling there and then back up into the western half of North America. Was over in the Sierra Madres and Rockies for a while, accumulated some gemstones and some very interesting herbal recipes. Also gained, and almost immediately lost, a student. (Running Wolf, to Kronos, I think.) WWI -- Milit intel in Britain. WWII -- (after the concentration camp); MI in Australia, helping their covert ops people in the Indonesian and Malaysian islands, posing as her own niece. When Owain Rhys-Tewdor lost track of Aidan in 1939, she was using the name Danica Ostrau and working in Europe as a courier for the Jewish gem merchants of Amsterdam. She ended up in Buchenwald for a time. Post-WWII -- went hunting nazis for a while. Rebecca finally came and dragged her out of South America and back to Holy Ground and sorted Aidan's head out for her. (Also? My brain is frustrating at times

I seem to be thinking out about six stories at once, which is annoying.  In the interests of getting one of the shorter of those six written, does anyone have a copy of the Sackett Companion where they can get to it?  I need to know if we have names for Em Talon's other four sons.  I know Milo was the youngest, and Barnabas is the other who survived to Ride the Dark Trail but that's all I remember.  If you can help, thanks!

We have three different challenge categories, and we're accepting all kinds of creativity so long as it fits into one of those challenges. So far, we have people signed up for fic, vids, art, fanmixes, fantasy casting, and meta/essays. I don't think anyone's doing icons, but they'd be welcome! So would anything else you can get to fit one of the challenges.

Signups are now through June 3rd, so there's about a week and a half left to sign up for a posting date. You can of course play on the Friday Free-For-Alls without signing up -- we already have new fic and art at the communities from people who did just that.

Come play -- it'll be fun!

...for reasons which will shortly become very apparent.  Pardon me, I'm still over here going, 'What the blazes did I just write?' On the other hand, a character I greatly dislike is back out of my head and no longer talking to me.  Mere words cannot express the relief, and please pass the brain bleach, or at least assure me that no, 3 PM is not too soon for wine?

Icon, please, while I edit?  And then,er, any of you familiar with both X-Files and Marvel who'd look at a 1400-1500 word fic? (Or maybe someone who barely knows either and can tell me where I lost them?  Seriously. What the everliving hell was I thinking?!)

ETA:: Also?  OW.  A strained ankle is not of the good.  Thank goodness for ice packs.

It's making me wish I could vid

Man.  Through a series of recs and wanderings on YouTube, I wandered back into a song Raine had mentioned months ago (a couple years, maybe), Florence and the Machine's Drumming Song.  I so very much want an HL vid to this because the song makes me think of hearing other immortals.  ::amused:: Which might just be me.  But the link to the official version was there, the acoustic harp and guitar version is here, and the song that set this all off was Breath of Life, from the upcoming Snow White & The Huntsman.

Ryan Reynolds?

Ain't It Cool News says they're looking at Ryan Reynolds to play Connor in the HL reboot.  Gods know the word on the script a few years ago was really, REALLY bad.  (Connor MacLeod is a lot of things, but pacifist is nowhere on that list.)  How worried should I be, if at all?  Or should I just assume this is yet another HL movie I won't be watching?

Good news

No, no, not the part where Black Widow's getting a movie and an origins movie at that. I squeed about that yesterday with everyone else.

No. Sometime between last summer when I last checked and about ten minutes ago when I checked again because why not, Barry Hughart has put the Master Li books out in ebook format. The omnibus is 9.99 at Barnes & Noble, or Amazon,or probably half a dozen other sites*, and that is one king hell of a bargain considering the hardcopy version of the omnibus was running $150 used if you could find anyone who'd sell it!

So anyway, apologies to the dolphins and bats for that noise. Everyone else, I can't recommend these books highly enough. If I could only take one book to a desert island, the omnibus would be it. It's the source of that glorious quote about, "In the first place I don't understand where [the story] begins and in the second place I'm not sure it has an ending and in the third place even if I understood the ending it wouldn't do me any good because I don't understand the beginning in the first place." And it's got Ox, and Master Li, and Moon Boy, and Grief of Dawn, and Jade Pearl, and drunken tongue twisters and... um. Right. Sorry. I'll stop now. I can stop anytime, really. (Yeah. Sure.)

Right. Off to bed. I know what I'm reading.

* I couldn't find anywhere Hughart was selling the ebook direct, possibly because I'm not on Facebook. But I think B&N listed it as published by Subterranean Press, so it's more likely he's not selling it direct.

Right about now, 21 years ago...

Dragon and I were heading out to the car with small cousins throwing bags of birdseed at us as we went.  As I remember, we went to a favorite restaurant nearby to get tea and biscuits because we were starving (somehow, the bride and groom did not get to eat at my wedding until I had to threaten not to pay the photographers unless they left us alone for 5 minutes...) and then the restaurant refused to charge us, what with 'just married' and all.

Last year this time, we were on the Blue Ridge Parkway, playing with Dragon's new Android phone to figure out where we were spending the night, and what we might want for dinner once we were checked in.  We had dozens of lovely photographs and lots of good memories and we'd had hours and hours of wind and flowers and mountains and each other's company.

21 lovely years together.  Yeah.  This is a really good start.

The AO3 meme is going around again, where I look at which stories of mine at the AO3 have the most hits and then see if I can find any patterns. Last year's data is here, although I didn't list number data that year.  (I am this year from sheer curiosity.)  This year's top 10:

Huh. White Collar's definitely popular, and Leverage. And half of these are newer stories I've written, not even on AO3 a year. ::amused::  Nope.  I have no ideas why these stories. Be interesting to see what's on the list next year.
