17th Cent -- Lost touch with Methos in 1638, and went back to North America. Worked her way down through the Appalachians and across the Mississippi, and followed the mountains south into what's now Central America. Spent a few decades traveling there and then back up into the western half of North America. Was over in the Sierra Madres and Rockies for a while, accumulated some gemstones and some very interesting herbal recipes. Also gained, and almost immediately lost, a student. (Running Wolf, to Kronos, I think.)

WWI -- Milit intel in Britain.

WWII -- (after the concentration camp); MI in Australia, helping their covert ops people in the Indonesian and Malaysian islands, posing as her own niece.

When Owain Rhys-Tewdor lost track of Aidan in 1939, she was using the name Danica Ostrau and working in Europe as a courier for the Jewish gem merchants of Amsterdam. She ended up in Buchenwald for a time. Post-WWII -- went hunting nazis for a while. Rebecca finally came and dragged her out of South America and back to Holy Ground and sorted Aidan's head out for her.

(Also? Mothers of gods, did I work the entire HL universe into one long series of stories?)

So, many years ago, I wrote some posts on the fanfic that various characters write.  Well, one of the prompts for International Fanworks Day is "What does your favorite character—or your favorite pairing—get fannish over?"  So, if there's a character or fandom where you'd like me to talk about that, reply here.

And am I the only one who'd love to see a Methos vid to Queen's "Don't Try Suicide"?  Methos' character arc does start off on a fairly self-destructive bang, and I gotta say, he's not exactly upset by a blade at his throat. (Tempted to jump Duncan or Kronos, okay, now that's another matter.)  Oh, well, we may have to put this one down to my brain and Queen songs.

Yes, (almost) all of my stories are at the AO3.  Three meta pieces and two WIPs are going up this month, and then it's done.  The AO3 actually has several shorter (and not so short) pieces which weren't up at the Eyrie.

If  you want copies for your ereaders, either portable or on your computer, the AO3 will download as MOBI, PDF, HTML (all of which are supported by Kindle or at least can be emailed to your Kindle) or EPUB (which is all other ereaders).  I hope this helps.

Now I get to go change some profiles, figure out how to link art in AO3 pieces by first figuring out where to host it....  Y'all get the idea.

I haven't updated there in years, so I will just be moving the rant on OCs over to the AO3 as fannish metafiction and maybe copying a couple of the other non-fic things here.  Sorry for the short notice, guys!

As to everything else, I'm slowly getting my iron levels back up (turns out, altitude sickness is a real bitch with even mild anemia), and I'm playing taxi/chauffeur to my mother.  She's still trying to find out if she has to have surgery.  Her pain levels haven't really decreased, so if her bone scan last week was good, I foresee surgery in her future.  Wish us luck?

Since my last post, Mom has been widowed and, hours later, sent from the hospital to rehab.  ( The rehab, at least, is going very, very well.Collapse )

Anyway.  That's the update, and I have a list of writing prompts to try and work on, and well, yeah.  This isn't as bad as 2014, but it has not been one of my better years, I gotta say.

The December posting came to an abrupt pause because my mother called me Tuesday morning and said, "I think I need you to take me to the hospital, honey."  No, no, it needed an ambulance to do that.  ( Long story cut short...Collapse )

So.  Tomorrow morning, at 07:30, Mom gets a few vertebra fused.  I'll have a laptop with me, but I'm most likely spending the night with her, so there's someone *there* if she needs sheets adjusted, immediate help, whatever.


Tonight, I have been thrown out of the hospital (by my mother) to have Christmas with friends, get sleep, get a long soak.  See you guys... um, in a few days at most?  At which point I will, in fact, start posting more again.  I have to rewrite the last scene to post of Depth of Field; I will try to get the Miss Marple second part up on time; and I will, in fact, do what I can with those prompts, guys. But wow.

Update:  Or, you know, not.  Maybe just not yet?  ( More detailsCollapse ) Ay yi yi.  I want more sleep, but I've gotten all of *my* back exercises done, and a couple real, home-cooked meals in a row.  Yay!

I'm randomly watching Murder, She Wrote and Rockford Files on Netflix, and contemplating Travelers when it hits next week. (Devo says I want to watch Eric McCormack; it's as if she knows me or something.)  I gave up on the Miss Fisher Mysteries TV series because I love the books too much, I'm afraid.  And I'm on tenterhooks waiting for the next (and last, ::sob::) Raksura novel.

What about you guys?  Who's watching or reading what?  Recommendations?

But now I'm headed to bed.  Six hours ago, it was 73 degrees.  Now it's 35 and sleeting.  I can't even.  But more Depth of Field tomorrow, and em_kellesvig , I'll try to find the most recent version of that fic and send it to you.  (Thanks again!!)

Depth of Field is the next major Southern Comfort fic. There's one more fairly major story to go after this, then it's done except for random short things as I think of them.  I'm pretty sure I know how it ends and yes, it will be finished; I just don't know when.  Mostly because I'm tired and it's got a LOT of plot threads. It's not quite as bad as Sirocco, but it's at 33K and it's... maybe half done? A third seems more likely.  This is still a WIP!!

So. Have 8500 words today.  (Also here at the AO3.)  There'll be about as much again once a week for the next three weeks. And then we're on a cliffhanger and I'm still writing. All that said, if you still want to read it, please DO. Then feel free to comment, ask questions, speculate, tell me about any typos, whatever. It all counts as encouragement to finish this, which I would really appreciate!

Summary: There's a serial killer operating up the coast, but Matthew McCormick's an ASAC now; that's not his job anymore. A student and apprentice of Xavier St. Cloud's is living in the Bay Area. Oh, and the man Duncan MacLeod was interested in has shown up unexpectedly. Then Joe Dawson vanishes.

It's a good question which part of this is the biggest problem.


Rated: NC-17 for m/m sex and for violence. Part 6 of the series "Southern Comfort. You don't have to have read the others, but this will make more sense if you have. Last, if m/m relationships bother you, this is not the right story for you.

Yup, yet another unfinished story -- one I'm working on for killabeez , this time. I think I know how it ends and yes, it will be finished; I just don't know when. I have yet to figure out what trouble Connor's having. That said, feel free to comment, ask questions, speculate, etc. It's the most likely thing to prod this along!
